We serve God by serving others

"I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me . . . whatever you did for the least of my brothers and sisters, you did for me."

~ Jesus

OUR SPIRITUAL SERVICE TO GOD INCLUDES MEETING THE PHYSICAL NEEDS OF THOSE AROUND US

Conley's Soup Social and food pantry are long-standing ministries of our church.  Every Wednesday 11am-1pm you are invited to enjoy fresh-made soup, sandwiches, and desserts - open to the public, free of charge.  Also, non-perishable food items are available in our food pantry.  If you are in need, contact the church office during regular office hours.  If you would like to donate, items may be dropped off in the grocery basket provided in the church narthex at all regular worship times, or--during the week--items may be dropped off at the church office or the Mission Room.

PLEASE NOTE: OUR SOUP SOCIAL LUNCHES WILL NOT OPERATE IN AUGUST OR SEPTEMBER 2023.  IT WILL RESUME OPERATIONS IN OCTOBER 2023.  THE FOOD PANTRY WILL CONTINUE TO PROVIDE FOOD TO THE COMMUNITY AS NEEDED.

Feeding the Flock is a new ministry that grew out of the pandemic.  When the health crisis forced us to close our soup kitchen, volunteers from our congregation responded to the increased need by delivering free lunches twice a week to a low-income housing complex and to a local homeless shelter.  This project, originally intended to meet a need during a time of crisis, expanded to become an ongoing ministry of Conley's Church.  Today, Feeding the Flock provides free meals every Monday and Friday to those in need at Millsboro Housing for Progress, Code Purple homeless shelter, Community Resource Center, and the Douglas Street homeless encampment.  On Wednesday, Conley's van provides transportation for the homeless to enjoy a hot meal at the church where shower and laundry service is also provided.

WE WELCOME THOSE LOOKING FOR AN OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE CHRIST BY SERVING OTHERS . . . ESPECIALLY AS WE SEE OUR MINISTRIES CONTINUE TO GROW!

At the soup kitchen, opportunities abound to make soup, sandwiches, and desserts, to serve meals on Wednesdays, and to clean up afterward.

Feeding the Flock provides opportunities to prepare meals and to transport and serve meals to those in need in our surrounding community.

Anyone interested should contact the church during regular office hours.  And, of course, financial donations are always welcome; we are able to provide these resources free to those in need only because of the gracious support of our congregation and community.  Donations may be made using the "donate" button at the bottom of this page.

God graciously invites us to share in the work of God on earth, and the Holy Spirit empowers us for joyful service.  The Bible instructs us to use our spiritual gifts to build each other up, feed the hungry, shelter the exposed, visit the lonely, care for the vulnerable, proclaim freedom to those in captivity, and carry the gospel of Jesus Christ to the whole world.  This is a tall order for any one person.  But we are not called to do all this alone. God calls us to do all this together . . . through the church, the body of Christ.  Together we are able to answer God’s call and fulfill God’s commission for God’s people.  At Conley's, we are excited about the ways God is working through our members to make a real difference in our world.  And we are confident that the Holy Spirit will lead each of us to a ministry of the church where we will be effective and fulfilled as God empowers us to serve.
